Ecole Communautaire la Voie du Nord | Thompson, MB

LEED™ Silver

Ecole Communautaire la Voie du Nord is a 2,434 square meter school accommodating french language students from kindergarten to Grade 12. The facility also includes a childcare component for infants to pre-school age children. The school was designed to be a focal point for the area French Community.

Visitors to the school are welcomed into a light-filled entrance lobby, the primary gathering point on the school’s main circulation corridor. Overhead sky lights flood this central gathering space in natural light, providing clear access to the adjacent central core program spaces. Core programs include the gymnasium, music / multi-purpose space, library, meeting rooms, and classrooms for student and community activities. The general office, canteen and student support spaces also open onto the main gathering space.

The school layout separates students by age group, with the east wing housing early and middle year students, and the west wing housing the high school component. Both wings are designed to allow for future additions should additional programmatic space be required.
